Winter 2024 Upcoming Class Dates
Classic Afterschool Art Class for School-aged Children starts Thursday, January 11th and runs through Through Thursday, April 25 to May 30 (5 sessions) Class time is from 330 to 430 (Description below). To register and pay for this, click here.
Watercolor - All Levels starts Thursday morning January 18 and runs through February 15, 5 sessions 9 to 11 am. Includes all materials or use your own. Supplemental Materials also provided. Coffee also provided. (Description below). To register and pay for this, click here.
Watercolor for the True Blue Beginner - All Levels starts Thursday evening January 18 and runs through February 15, 5 sessions 630 to 830 pm. Supplemental Materials also provided. (Description below). To register and pay for this, click here.
CHILDREN’S CLASSES
Children’s Classes Introduction / Intermediate / Advanced Instruction Available in fiber arts including sewing, fashion design, needle felting, embroidery, drawing in both color, bl/wh, illustration, painting including encaustic, acrylic and watercolor, sculpture from clay to wire, mixed media, paper making, bookmaking, and much more. Children can engage in one of these classes immediately below or read further to learn about private lessons.
Classic Afterschool Art Class on Thursday afternoons from 330 to 430 for 8 weeks (mature 5 year olds to 11 years olds). Afterschool Art Class Starting Thursday afternoons and Running From Thursday, October 12th to Thursday, December 14 (8 sessions). Register here!
These small group classes are designed to incorporate a great variety of visual art experiences. Hands-on learning and developing a studio practice is a top priority, as well as, learnings about Artists and Art History. Science, technology, research, practice, drawing skills, and positive modeling practices are encouraged in this exemplary creative environment. Students have experience and access to a printing press, 3D printer, pottery wheels, sewing machines, needle printing machine, an extensive art library, art resources, and more. In March, we have a spectacular Young Artist exhibit in honor of their work and in coordination of annual Youth Art Month. All Classes are primarily taught by Art Educator and Artist-In-Residence Helene Farrar.
Art Club for Teens & Tweens (12 to 16 year olds) meets two Thursdays of every month from 5 to 6 PM
(This workshop is on hold for now.) In this course, especially designed for this unique age group, students will be introduced to a variety of two-dimensional drawing media with the option to extend work time into multiple class periods or to work at their own pace doing independent projects. This is a great foundational class for youth students who need to stretch themselves, receive individualized guidance, and for those who need to get some art time in their busy schedules. For Juniors and Seniors needing help developing their portfolio for college, this is a fantastic environment for this. This workshop class will be offered over the winter. ADULT CLASSES
Adult Classes and Lessons Offerings include all levels of drawing, all painting mediums including: watercolor, encaustic, acrylic and oils. Portfolio review, independent study, professional development and creative growth all areas of development.
Watercolor for the True Blue Beginner - This five week intensive is devoted to building a foundation in watercolor painting. Each class will be divided into two sections, the first exploring technique such as painting a wash and the second half devoted to “picture making” such as creating a good composition. Students are expected to work also outside of class time to reinforce concepts from the previous class. Materials list will be provided upon registration. Supplemental materials will be provided.

Evening Painters This class is on hold for now. Meets twice a month. Calling all Adults who like to draw or paint, want to paint, need to commit to painting and drawing but need a gentle “push” - this is a great format for you! Each class evening will be devoted to a drawing or painting topic that Helene will offer in a 20 minute mini-lesson. All levels of drawing, all painting mediums including watercolor, encaustic, acrylic and oils. Encaustics students needing wax will be charged an additional $10 fee for each class to cover the cost of materials.

You can learn more about Helene by looking at her bio HERE. Helene has an MFA is Interdisciplinary Arts ifrom Goddard College and a BA in Art from the University of Maine. She has state of Maine art teaching certification and has been teaching art for over twenty years.
